Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm is situated right in the heart of the winelands, about half an hour from Cape Town.

On arrival, you are shown a short educational video on the croc's life cycle, and thereafter taken on a guided tour.  You view these ancient reptiles by means of a low, narrow flyover / walkway and you realize just how close you are to them.  The crocs are divided into four or five different areas.  The younger ones are separated from the more mature adults, as it seems that the older ones can be typical classroom bullies. It was fairly early in the day and already many of the creatures were lying with their mouths open as a means of cooling down. The first two enclosures we saw, separated some oddities; on the left was a single crocodile that had been born without a nose, but he seemed to be surviving well enough, and the second enclosure had a pair that were tailless, who seemed to be coping just as well as they were by no means youngsters. At the end of the walkway, you get to see the Granddaddy of the farm, a gnarly old timer of enormous proportions.  Whilst the majority of the other crocs had their eyes closed, this ancient chap watched our every move.

The farm does not breed their own crocodiles but have hatchlings transported up from breeding farms.  A highlight for the kids would be an opportunity to touch a baby crocodile, (supervised of course) and equally as exciting would be to see the crocodiles being fed, so phone ahead to inquire about feeding times.

There is a lovely enclosed playground for the kids while Mom and Dad enjoy the comforts of the licensed Restaurant, featuring croc dishes, sunday buffets and a child frindly menu. We also offer picnic baskets.

NEW: We rent out fishing rods for catch and release bass fishing.
